Our personal tour tips for you:
Jamtal hut
The tour starts directly from the hotel in a southerly direction and soon leads onto the road into the Jamtal valley.
Over a distance of around 10 kilometres and around 600 metres in altitude, you reach the Jamtalhütte - always accompanied by impressive views of the glaciated peaks in the rear Jamtal. The tranquil valley is characterised by typical Tyrolean alpine farming, so grazing animals are a constant companion along the way.
Two of the mountain huts - the Menta-Alm and the Scheibenalm - are open in summer and offer regional delicacies. The route to the hut has a number of steeper sections and therefore requires a good level of fitness.
The Jamtalhütte belongs to the Swabian section of the German Alpine Club and is one of the most important bases for mountaineers, climbers and ski tourers in the Silvretta region.
Friedrichshafen hut
A classic MTB uphill to an important Alpine Club base in the Verwall Group - with an exciting downhill alternative.
The tour starts in Galtür at the Piel car park, where hikers also set off for the Friedrichshafener Hütte. Those starting in Ischgl join the route around 200 metres above. The evenly ascending forest road leads up a total of 16 hairpin bends until the just over 600 metres in altitude to the hut have been mastered.
Once at the top, an impressive panorama of the surrounding peaks of the Silvretta and the Verwall group rewards the effort of the ascent. The descent is mostly on the ascent route, but there are signposted trail variants at the beginning and end that provide an extra dose of riding fun.
However, you will need a certain amount of experience on the bike.
